For those of you who have followed my blog for a while, this little guy will be familiar to you. Grant is one of five kids I’ve been photographing for the Signature Chefs Auction on Oct. 14, but he has special status with the March of Dimes this year as its 2009 Ambassador Child.
At age 5, Grant is no stranger to publicity. He’s been on TV, in the papers, and on this blog a few times before. But his story of coming into this world is worth repeating. Grant was born 9 weeks early, spend 42 days in the Iowa City NICU and went through a series of ups and downs with his lungs his first year of life.
His parents Linda and Jeff say the the medical advancements supported by the March of Dimes helped their son. And now this Bettendorf boy is a goofy, charming, active kid who may very well steal the spotlight away from the grown-ups at the March of Dimes’ gala Chefs Auction.
