Rhett’s World

BETTENDORF, Ia. – Rhett is a rock-star celebrity in the world of March of Dimes. He is the Mississippi Valley chapter’s Ambassador Child this year and a really great one. Who wouldn’t look into his adorable little face and be so giving to a cause that saved his life? Seriously, you’d be crazy not to.

Rhett’s parents, Amy and Jim, invited me into their home last week to take some photos of Rhett, who is the youngest of three. I asked him which of his sisters he liked better, and he very smartly replied: “both of them!”

… and his sisters equally adore their little brother!

Rhett – who was born at 35 weeks and spent a month in the NICU – also took the time to demonstrate his secret handshake with his dad, Jim. Rhett then came to me shortly thereafter to make sure I got every single motion. Thankfully, according to the 3-year-old – I did. (Whew!)

Rhett is a big hugger, and he LOVES LOVES LOVES his mom… should every mom be so lucky have this kind of relationship with their son!

Rhett will be the spotlight at this year’s March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at the QC Waterfront Convention Center. I can’t wait to see him again at this event, which I’ll be shooting for the third straight year. It will be a fantastic time for sure – especially with Rhett there!
