Christina & Brenton ~ Wedding

One thought went through my head during Saturday’s wedding with Christina and BrentonThey just look like they’re meant for each other…

This was one of the most heartfelt wedding days I’ve photographed – laughter, tears, smiles and pure joy on the most perfect of days.

Christina and Brenton’s day started at the Unity Center of Cedar Rapids, where the couple and their bridal party met. The two managed to get ready without either seeing each other. I stayed with girls while my second shooter hung out with the guys.

Christina and Brenton met up a few miles away for First Look photos at Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area outside Palo, Iowa – also where they had their engagement session in late July. Christina looked stunning, and the photo here on the far right is one of my favorites from Saturday. But she looked more stunning with Brenton at her side.

After family and bridal party photos, it was time to head to the ceremony across Pleasant Creek Lake. But first, a glimpse of the venue:

Then, the bridal party took a breather and got a drink (or two) at Brogan’s Pub and Grub in Palo – (aka – the dance party before the dancing). Christina shared an “unofficial” first dance with Brenton and another with her father.

Their reception was in Cedar Rapids, at the IBEW Miller Hall. Christina – also a wedding planner – chose all the decorations and centerpieces, which transformed the hall into an elegant room. But some of the most beautiful moments of the reception came during the toasts, starting with Christina’s father who choked back tears during his speech.

After a few more toasts, Brenton recognized his parents, Christina’s parents, told the audience of how they met (at Home Depot), their proposal, Christina’s sisters, and his love for his new wife. Christina also recognized both sets of parents, as well as her new husband – whom she described as her best friend. Between just the two of them, they were the most heartfelt speeches I have ever heard at a wedding, and I was privileged to be a part of it.

Thank you, Christina and Brenton! Congratulations, and best wishes for a long, happy life together!
