Colors & Contradance at Palisades-Kepler State Park

Last summer, I was a second shooter for my friend Cathy who had a wedding at Palisades-Kepler State Park in Mount Vernon. Little did I know then it would be one of my favorite weddings I would shoot. For starters, it was an outdoor wedding and reception on the most perfect of summer days. Everything about this event had nature written all over it with simplicity and care, and accented with colorful fresh flowers. The reception area had a seating chart in front, and each place setting had a personalized tag on a mason jar and a favor box next to the wine glasses.

Inside, I got some shots of the wedding cake and the groom’s cake before it was time for the couple to say “I do.”

The ceremony was perfect, as the bride and groom exchanged vows before a small gathering of family and friends.

After dinner, it was time to celebrate, and they did that with the Barn Owl Band, which led guests to an exciting contradance experience. If you’ve never seen a contradance, it’s fun, folksy and fast-paced. And I had a blast watching and shooting every moment of it.
