The Thrill of Doing Crazy Things

Tomorrow I’ll be hanging out (with my camera) in what I’m told will be a chaotically fun event. It’s the annual eDive, hosted by eServ, to raise money for Junior Achievement.

For the average person this basically appears to be crazy people jumping into a freezing pond. But it’s serious business because 1) you pay to participate – anywhere from $20 to $1,000 (for sponsorships), 2) there’s steep competition for best dressed team / individual, and 3) they’ll be preceding the event with the National Anthem. (I’m totally laughing out loud writing this).

Note: This is not an actual “dive”. I was told by the organizers that the pond is no more than 4 feet deep. So if you’re going to jump, don’t pull a Greg Louganis.

The event is at 4650 E. 53rd Street in Davenport. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Dives begin at 4:05 p.m. And the party starts at 5:30 p.m. See you there!
