Alyssa & Adam ~ Davenport, Iowa Wedding

Alyssa and Adam rehearsed their ceremony on Friday and everything was perfect. Then in a flurry of getting formal photos taken before Saturday’s ceremony  and avoiding each other – they opted not to see each other – there was a calm realization that this was the moment. It all came down to a few minutes of standing in front of a room full of loved ones and exchanging their vows. Neither of them struck me as the emotional type. They were matter-of-fact, fun and simple with a perfect touch of elegance. But the rehearsal was more about going through the motions. The ceremony was all about the emotion.

Their day – as well as that of myself and my assistant Linda – started at Davenport‘s Clarion Hotel, where the banquet hall was decked for the evening’s reception with floral arrangements by West End Gardens.

Alyssa and Adam were anxiously getting ready at opposite ends of the hotel with her managing to get her makeup done amidst making sure everyone else was ready, before putting her dress on at the church. And yes, those are blue shoes! I loved that she wore blue shoes!

Adam and his groomsmen were dressed and ready for a wedding.

Alyssa’s younger brother Zachary walked her down the aisle before she joined Adam, and sealed it with a loooong kiss.

Then, it was off to the Village of East Davenport. The couple shot their engagement session here, and wanted to come back for more photos.

Alyssa looked stunning, and it was fun to capture her essence. Linda took these two sets of the girls and guys.

After photos at the firehouse we headed across the street in front of the Bier Stube, where they first met. Who knew they’d be coming back in the future for wedding pictures!

There’s lots of things I loved about the reception. But two in particular was the gorgeous cake by Sara Lynn’s Cakes, and the other was the table by the entrance of their favorite photos on display.

Linda and I set up a CrazyBooth outside the banquet hall, and was welcomed by a handful of guests who were willing to go well…crazy!… Even Alyssa’s grandparents!

Their First Dance was one of many they danced to that night with each other and with their loved ones.

What an awesome wedding!! Alyssa and Adam, hope you’re having another blast of a time in Jamaica. Thanks to you and your parents for having me be a part of your incredible day. I’m excited to see you both again soon!

As ever,

P.S.: Since Alyssa and Adam were so fun to photograph, I had a heck of a time limiting what to post for their sneak peek. Otherwise, I would have to consider changing the name of this blog and/or delaying this post 😛
