Published in Vanderbilt University’s Alumni Magazine

So, this is a bit outdated but it’s news to me since I got my copy of Vanderbilt Magazine in the mail this week.

Last summer, I photographed a local woman starting up a nonprofit aimed to help women in domestic violence shelters regain some sense of confidence and control through yoga practice. It’s an ambitious and interesting venture that got the attention of the founder’s alma mater, Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Last fall the university – which has 115,000 graduates – published her story (accompanied by one of my photos) in the alumni magazine. Click on the images below to check out the online edition of the story (published in the magazine):

Littlest Heroes Project

3007268570_d1fa45890f_o2Accent Photographics is proud to be part of the Littlest Heroes Project. This is a nonprofit made up of professional photographers who capture miracles through the beauty of photography by providing free – yes, FREE! – photo sessions of children suffering a major illness. This is the photography community’s way of giving back and letting you know that these children are not forgotten and are heroes to many of us.

Families are encouraged to apply through the project’s Website, http://www.littlestheroesproject.org. Littlest Heroes will then link you up with a photographer, based on availability. Serious illnesses are but not restricted to: AIDS, diabetes, cancer, and cerebral palsy.

So if you are or know a family with a child who has a serious illness or a life-altering disability, go to the Littlest Heroes Project, or you can contact me directly, at shuva@accentphotographics.com.
