‘We Are a Happy Cyclone Family’ ~ An ISU Adventure

AMES, Ia. – When my friend Amy saw the photos I took last weekend of her awesome family on the Iowa State campus, she gave me a summarized commentary from her daughter and husband, Ash:

We LOVE the photos!! Hope’s comment: There’s a lot of kissing Mom!  Ash: That’s a good one (said repeatedly). These are so much better than posed photos.

Amy and I had gone to college together. She married college sweetheart Ash (also a Cyclone), and now they are the parents of – three! Hope is 5, and twins Paul and Luke turned 1 this year. We met up in Ames (they drove from Greenfield, Iowa) during graduation weekend. It had been four years since I’d seen Amy and she looked fantastic! Ash, I thought, looked exactly like he did when we were in school (that’s a good thing!).

It was an overcast and a bit windy, but we gradually made our way through central campus, starting at the Memorial Union’s infamous fountain, where Hope was already showcasing her independent spirit.

We made our way to the Campanile – the place where all Iowa State couples kiss under, and did a few “premonition” shots of Amy, Ash and the kids.

From there it was on to Catt Hall, which proved a delightful adventure for Paul who made his way up the stairs of the building on his own.

…and cheered him all he way to the top!

One of our final destination points was a bench that said Class of 1910 –  where Ash first proposed to Amy years ago. …and yes, they did a reenactment!

It was so much fun to see them! I can’t wait to see how much the kids change the next time we meet!

Amy: …to sum things up, we are converts to this style of photography. …We are a happy Cyclone family!
